Let’s visit the Land of Nardir
Welcome, In this section we will inform you regularly what’s happening in the land of Nardir, present elements of the game and describe the gameplay in-depth. Let’s start with describing what you can find on the main board – Map of Nardir.
Map of Nardir shows the railroad tracks that goes through three regions. The green tracks belong to the Military State of Calestia, the red tracks belong to the Mining State called Ravenshire, and the blue tracks belong to the Technological State of New Avalon.
The railroad tracks connect 9 Cities (1) and 12 Economic Zones (2) that contain Railway Sidings (3).
Each region contains 3 Cities and 4 Economic Zones in their colour.
Everything you do in Train Rush is connected to the specific region where your train currently sits. This has a significant influence onto how you plan your movements and where will you stop your Train.
Each region has one very useful point of travel – the Black Market (4), where you can trade resources for valuable rewards depending on how many resources you sell.
In the game, you move your train by playing a card in Phase V of each round – this will determine how many fields you will move your train. Each player begins their first move on the START field in the centre of the map. (Important Note: This is the only field that does not belong to any zone).
During the movement there are a couple of limitations:
- Trains can move only in the clockwise direction – you can find a reminder of this rule in the centre zone (8).
- Only one train can occupy a field, with the exception of Cities and the Black Market. If your move would end on a field where another train is already present, you cannot perform this action.
- You have to use all the movement points for each action, with the exception of cities and the Black Market, where you can end your movement instantly, and the remainder of movement points from such action are lost.
- Moving through the map is done in three loops (Centre, Middle, Outside). The only place where you can move to another loop is through tunnels (5). The direction of movement through tunnels is shown by arrows. The tunnel itself does not take movement points from the action.
In the center of the map, you will find the Round Track (6). On the track, you will find information on when the game ends – Field 8 for 3-4 players and Field 9 for 2 players. Additionally, if any of the players visit all 9 cities (9), the game will end at the end of this round.
Under the Round Track (6), you will also find the Auction and Order Tracks (7).
Cities of Nardir
In the first update we invited you to the land of Nardir. Now it’s time to get to know the cities and the possibilities of operating in them a little better.
Now let’s move on to City (1) description.
10. City Crest– Each of 9 Cities has a different crest which also appears on Character Cards and in the Contracts Area on Management Board. In phase VI, players will place Task Markers if their Character comes from this city.
11. Name of the City.
12. Place for 3 Contractors– In the base game, at the start of each game there will be three Contractors in three different colours corresponding to each region.
13. City Rank– Depending on which loop the City is at (1 – Centre / 2 – Middle / 3 – Outside), being in the city, players can rent their warehouse to one of the available Contractors. Additionally, each player advances on Contractor Track, in the colour of the contractor they chose. The amount of spaces they move is based on City Rank.
14. Place for City tokens– When a player arrives at a City, they mark their presence using their token on the first space from the left. The first and second player to do so receive Victory Points and an additional Movement Token (2-6 points of movement) which they can use one time to add to one of their movement actions.
15. The starting point of City Action– Multiple trains can occupy this space.
City Action can be executed in any order from the following steps:
a) Mark players presence in the city using City Marker in player’s colour, and taking movement token if the player was either the first or the second person to enter the City.
b) Rent out player’s warehouse, built in any Region, to one of the available contractors and advance on the Contractors Track depending on the City Rank.
c) Fulfilling available contracts.
Economic Area
Let’s take a look at the Economin Area and the rules of operation in it.
Now it’s time for the Economic Area (2) along with the Railway Siding (3).
16. Place for 3 Contractors – In the Economic Area, only one Contractor from each region is allowed (three contractors, each with different colour). Additionally, it is required that there’s a Transfer Station built in the area to be able to rent a Warehouse to the Contractor.
17. Place for 3 Warehouses – Players can build a warehouse regardless of whether a Transfer Station is built or not. Additionally, as a reward for building warehouse, they can move in the Infrastructure Track in the colour of Economic Area.
18. Place for 1 Transfer Station – While building Transfer Station, new resources are discovered, and they appear in the form of a Package Cube (5).
19. Place for Packages – Packages appear only after the Transfer Station is built. At the end of the game, they give Victory Points depending on the amount of packages carried. Special wagons are required to transfer Packages.
Railway Siding (3)
Numbers 1 – 9 correspond to Railway Siding spaces on the Management Board. These spaces contain Railway Siding Bonus Tokens. A train that stops on a specific space will get the corresponding bonus. (Important note: Each movement, you have to move through specific track that was chosen. For example, from space numbered 6, you cannot go to the space 7). On top of that players can take the Package if they have special wagon designated to carry them.
Additionally, anytime any train stops on such a space, it will trigger Economic Area scoring:
- Each owner of a rented Warehouse will advance on the Contractors Track (Track in the colour of the contractor) by one space.
- The owner of the Transfer Station will advance on the Infrastructure Track (Track in the colour of the Economic Area) by one space for each rented warehouse in this area.
